When I woke up I had no clue what the day would bring.
Most of the time it was absolute chaos.
An unorganized mess that I called motherhood.
I was too tired to take care of myself because I was barely making it while taking care of my baby.
Do you feel like:
You never have time for yourself
You’ve lost your identity in motherhood
Your needs are getting put on the back burner
I used every excuse in the book.
“I don’t have time to take care of myself.”
“I have too much to get done around the house.”
“I have to take care of the baby.”
But, you know what I was really doing? I wasn’t valuing myself.
I put everyone else’s needs in my family above my own.
Guess what I realized?
There will always be laundry, dirty dishes, and a giant to-do list.
Those were just excuses for me to not value my own well-being.
I realized it needed to change, and fast, because I was completely burnt out.
How I Fixed It
It didn’t start with a 10-step skincare routine or an elaborate spa day.
I woke up before my baby and drank my coffee alone on the front porch.
It was a simple start to the day but it was all about me for those 15 minutes.
Without me knowing it – I had just started my own self-care practice.
Slowly yet surely I realized the importance of taking time for myself.
To do things that interest me, to pursue my own hobbies, and set goals for myself.
I was lost in motherhood and I had to find out who I was outside of it.
